DuraLife™ Unveils New Exact Match Cortex® Plug System

BIDDEFORD, Maine - February 7, 2018 - DuraLife™, a leading manufacturer of durable composite decking and railing products, announced today it is introducing its exact match DuraLife Cortex^® Plug System. An excellent solution for installing deck boards, as well as seamless perimeter and stair treads, the DuraLife Cortex Plug System conceals exposed screw heads. Since the plugs are made of actual DuraLife boards, the color and wood grain match is exact, providing a continuous, uniform aesthetic. The DuraLife Cortex Plug System is now available through lumber yards and retailers.

The DuraLife Cortex Plug System includes three-inch, coated carbon steel screws that can be directly installed into the joist; polypropylene composite plugs made from DuraLife decking that are color matched to the company’s eight colors (Golden Teak, Brazilian Cherry, Tropical Walnut Pebble Coastal Grey, Mahogany and Slate); and the necessary setting tools. Installation is a simple three-step process that includes drilling the hole, setting the screw, and then plugging the exposed screw hole. To ensure the plug is aligned perfectly with the deck board, simply tap the plug into the hole with a rubber mallet or hammer. In every box, there are 224 screws, 300 color-matched plugs, and two setting tools – enough to install 100 linear feet of decking. The DuraLife Cortex Plug System is available for use with the company’s Starter and Siesta decking profiles.
